In the current Smithworks theme, Spacer Column creates an empty gap between footer columns. Turn it on for a column, then give that column a width under the Custom XL, Desktop, and Tablet settings. The spacer disappears when the footer stacks, and you can set its width to 0% for a screen size where you no longer want the gap. Use it for intentional breathing room, not as a substitute for setting the visible columns to sensible widths.
Equal: The current Smithworks theme shares the footer row evenly on XL and Desktop, then stacks the columns from Tablet down.
Custom: You choose full-width stacking or individual percentages for XL, Desktop, and Tablet. Set each breakpoint separately because the percentages do not copy from one breakpoint to another.
Mobile always stacks, and a column set to 0% is hidden rather than included in the visible total. Use Equal for a predictable footer and Custom when the content needs uneven columns, a deliberate gap, or breakpoint-specific visibility.
In the current Smithworks theme, copy uses the full width of its footer column. There is no separate setting to make the copy narrower inside that column. To reduce the copy area, choose Style → Module Settings → Column Widths → Custom and lower that column’s percentage. You can also add a Spacer Column when the design needs an intentional gap. Preview the footer on desktop, tablet, and mobile after changing widths so it remains readable and balanced when the columns stack.
In SW Header Simple, open Style → Logo Column Width. Leave Auto for the current logo size (asset width, half-header cap, 87px max-height). Choose Custom and set XL Width (80–800px). Override Desktop, Tablet, or Mobile if those sizes should differ. Custom shrinks the logo if the column is narrower than the image; it does not enlarge a small logo. On phones 480px and under, the compact icon still applies. Existing headers stay Auto until you choose Custom. Publish global header content after the theme update.
Module Outer controls the full-width header bar. Module Inner controls the contained row that holds the logo, menu, and header buttons. Use an Outer background when the color or image should span the full browser width, and use an Inner background when you want a distinct surface behind the header content. Background video applies to the Outer layer.
Under Style → Module Background Settings, set Module Inner Background Options to Effect. Then use Effect Type to choose Glass, Grain, or Pattern. The effect covers the Inner row that holds the logo, menu, and buttons. Use Module Outer Background Options separately when the full-width header bar also needs a background.
First, identify whether the image should fill Module Outer, the full-width header bar, or Module Inner, the content row that holds the logo, navigation, and buttons. Open that layer's background settings, confirm its background option is set to Image, and verify that an image file is selected. Preview the header, then publish the global content and check the live page. If a previously saved image disappeared immediately after a theme change, stop before overwriting the setting and contact Smithworks so the saved instance can be checked.
Open the Style settings for the surface you want to round, then use its matching controls:
Override Primary Column Border Radius and Primary Column Corner Radius.
Override Secondary Column Border Radius and Secondary Column Corner Radius.
Override Media Column Border Radius and Media Column Corner Radius.
Override Form Box Border Radius and Form Box Corner Radius.
These controls shape the selected Effect surface. Image Corner Radius and Video Corner Radius shape only the media, while Module Inner Rim is a separate treatment for the Inner layer.
