SW Modules

Frequently Asked Questions - SW Sprocket Rocket Modules

These FAQs explain how Smithworks SW Modules work inside HubSpot, especially for Sprocket Rocket-style themes. Use them to choose the right module, understand common settings, and give AI agents better context before they start guessing.

How do I size and position an image precisely in SW Pillar Section?

  1. Open the secondary Image field. Set Size to Use exact width and height, then enter the pixel dimensions you want.
  2. Use Extra Large Desktop Background Position to place the image within the media column. If you enable a separate Desktop, Tablet, or Mobile image, use the position setting for that screen size. Otherwise, the module uses the Extra Large Desktop position.
  3. When Image as Background is off, the module displays the image at the dimensions you entered. When it is on, those dimensions control the background image size.

Middle Center centers the image, while Bottom Right places it at the bottom-right of the column. Choose Automatically adjust when you want the image to fill the media column instead of keeping the exact dimensions.

When does Outer Aurora display in SW Pillar Section?

Outer Aurora displays over supported Outer fills such as Theme Color, Custom Color, Gradient, and Image. It does not display when the Outer background is Animated, None, or Divider. Turn on Outer Aurora Overlay after choosing a supported fill, then check the published page because the editor may not show motion exactly as visitors see it. If the settings are correct and Aurora is still missing, ask your website administrator or contact Smithworks to check whether the theme needs an update.

How do I add space above the buttons in SW Pillar Section?

Open SW Pillar Section → Content, choose the primary or secondary content column, then open CTA Buttons → Space Above Buttons (px). Use 0 when you want the buttons flush with the copy. A value around 20 creates a more noticeable gap. Check the page at each screen size and adjust the value to fit the content.

What does SVG Overlay do in SW Hero?

SVG Overlay adds an optional decorative layer to the SW Hero Outer band. It sits above the Outer color, image, gradient, or Aurora treatment and below the Inner content. Use Animation for appear or twinkle motion, and Disable SVG Overlay to hide it at specific screen sizes. The overlay is not available when Module Outer Background Options is None, Divided/Split, or Animated. Use only SVG artwork from a source you trust.

How is SVG Overlay different from Aurora on SW Hero?

Aurora is a soft color wash over the Outer (or Inner) fill. SVG Overlay is a pasted SVG drawing (for example a grid of squares) that can appear and twinkle. They can stack: SVG Overlay sits above Aurora and below Inner content. Aurora is not required to use SVG Overlay.

What happens when I enable a responsive image override but leave the image empty?

In supported SW modules, turning on a Desktop, Tablet, or Mobile image override and leaving its image empty intentionally hides that photo at the selected breakpoint and smaller sizes. A smaller-breakpoint override with its own file can bring the photo back for that size. This behavior is documented for responsive Outer and Inner images in SW Hero, SW Cards, SW Pillar Slides, SW Testimonials, and SW Footer Columns. In SW Pillar Section, an empty secondary-image override also collapses the media column so the content can use the full width; an empty Extra Large image still uses the editor placeholder.

When should I use SW Cards Blog instead of SW Blog Cards?

Use SW Cards Blog for new blog listing pages and for sections on website or landing pages that pull in blog posts. SW Blog Cards is deprecated and cannot be added to new content, but it can remain on pages where it already works.

Tag pages, author pages, and the page that lists all posts use the blog listing template's post list instead of a list configured in SW Cards Blog. When replacing SW Blog Cards on an older page, review the selected blog, filters, card layout, and other settings because the two modules are not interchangeable.

How many blog posts should HubSpot send to SW Cards Blog on a listing page?

Set HubSpot’s Number of posts per listing page to Posts to show + (Post start − 1). For the current Smithworks blog listing, SW Cards Blog shows 18 cards and starts at post 2 because the hero uses the first post, so the HubSpot setting should be 19. If your listing does not use a featured-post hero, set Post start to 1 and make the HubSpot setting match Posts to show. A value that is too low leaves cards empty; a value that is too high can skip posts when visitors move to the next page.

Can I use infinite scroll with SW Cards Blog on the main blog listing page?

No. The Infinite Scroll setting in SW Cards Blog does not control how posts load on the main blog listing page. That behavior is controlled by the blog listing template.

You can use Infinite Scroll when SW Cards Blog pulls posts into a regular website or landing page. If you need to change how posts load on the main blog listing, ask your website administrator or Smithworks to review the template.
