Frequently Asked Questions - SW Sprocket Rocket Modules

These FAQs explain how Smithworks SW Modules work inside HubSpot, especially for Sprocket Rocket-style themes. Use them to choose the right module, understand common settings, and give AI agents better context before they start guessing.

Can I use a five-column layout in SW Cards Blog?

No. SW Cards Blog does not include a supported five-column layout. Under Style → Cards Layout, use Cards per row (XL) for the largest screens, plus Cards per row (Desktop), Cards per row (Tablet), and Cards per row (Mobile), to choose from the available layouts. If your design requires five blog cards across, contact Smithworks to review the options.

Does SW Cards Blog show on tag, author, or all-posts listing pages?

SW Cards Blog is for the main blog index and for website or landing Insights rows. On /blog/tag/, /blog/tagged/, /blog/author/, and /blog/all it outputs nothing, including when HubSpot does not set the tag object.

Those pages keep the listing template partials: a title such as the blog name plus the tag, and a search/sort list of posts. Website and landing Cards Blog is unchanged.

How do breadcrumbs work on the Smithworks blog listing and archive pages?

The current Smithworks Blog Listing template places SW Breadcrumbs above the listing hero. The main blog index shows Home → blog name. Tag, author, and all-posts pages add a final label for the current page while keeping the blog name linked. After changing the blog name or archive setup, preview the main listing and an archive page to confirm that the trail and links are correct.

Where is the title on the blog listing page now?

The listing template no longer prints a separate hardcoded listing H1 above the cards. Set the index title in SW Cards Blog Headings (sample: Strategic Marketing Blog).

On tag, author, and all-posts URLs, Cards Blog is hidden, so the title comes from that view’s listing partial (for example the blog name plus the tag). SW Breadcrumbs sits above the listing hero on all of those listing views.

What happens in SW Cards Blog when there are no blog posts?

When the blog query returns no posts—an empty blog on a website Insights row, or a tag filter with zero matches—SW Cards Blog shows the same empty-state box as the older SW Blog Cards module.

The box sits between the headings and the footer CTA. Card colors and border style the box. On tag, author, and all-posts listing URLs the whole module still hides so those pages can keep their listing lists.

When should I use SW Cards Animated instead of SW Cards?

SW Cards Animated puts icons on a curve. Hover or click opens one card; phones stack with a dock. It is not a replacement for SW Cards grids.

Use SW Cards Blog for blog posts and SW Cards Products for plan/bullet cards. Do not add a five-up helper class here—this module has no grid slider.

How do I open and close a card in SW Cards Animated on desktop?

Hover over or click a card's icon to open that card. Only one card opens at a time, and all cards start closed when the section loads. Move to another card to switch the open item. Press Escape when you want to close the active card with the keyboard.

What happens to SW Cards Animated on phones?

Stacked layout is always on at 767px and below. Optional Stack on MD can force the same layout on tablets. Swipe does not loop back to the first card. Dock icons meet a 44×44 tap target.

Style → Stacked Layout → Margin Top / Margin Bottom (default 25px) sets the gap above the card and above the dock.

How many items can SW Cards Animated display?

SW Cards Animated can display a maximum of six items. If the editor contains more than six rows, the extra rows will not appear on the page. Delete unneeded rows or reorder the list so the six items you want are first.

What is the difference between Chip and Button on SW Cards Animated?

Enable Chip as Link hides chip text/colors and shows Button Text, Button Link, and button styling instead. To make the whole card clickable, use Link Entire Card. Heading and footer CTAs under the section still use the Buttons repeater.
