SW Modules

Frequently Asked Questions - SW Sprocket Rocket Modules

These FAQs explain how Smithworks SW Modules work inside HubSpot, especially for Sprocket Rocket-style themes. Use them to choose the right module, understand common settings, and give AI agents better context before they start guessing.

When should I use SW FAQs Simple?

SW FAQs Simple is deprecated for new content, so use SW FAQs Basic for a new FAQ section on a page. Existing SW FAQs Simple instances can continue using HubDB rows or the inline repeater. For a crawlable FAQ hub with browsing and search features, use SW FAQs Advanced HubDB. Review the SW module documentation when you need a fuller comparison of the available FAQ modules.

What does the SW Share This module do?

SW Share This adds social-sharing controls to a page or blog post so visitors can share the current URL. You can enable Facebook, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Pinterest, email, and Copy Link options, then choose which ones make sense for your audience. The controls can sit horizontally where you place the module or use a floating vertical layout on larger screens. Use it when you want a clear sharing prompt without asking visitors to copy and format the page link themselves. See the SW Module Documentation for setup details.

How do I validate BlogPosting schema on a Smithworks blog post?

Publish or preview the post, then test its URL with Google’s Rich Results Test. Review each BlogPosting result the test finds, fix any errors, and confirm that the headline, featured image, published date, modified date, and author match the post. Google supports BlogPosting as a type of Article structured data, but valid markup does not guarantee a special search appearance; see its Article structured data guidance.

How does someone open an Executive Growth Brief from a standard Smithworks page?

A link to #egb-access opens a dialog where the visitor enters contact details and an Executive Growth Brief ID. If the ID is valid, the visitor is sent to HubSpot's password page for that brief. If the ID is not found, the dialog stays open and shows not-found feedback. The access dialog remains hidden until someone selects the link, and this feature is available only on the Smithworks site.

How can I quickly choose the right SW module for a page section?

Start with the type of content you need to present:

  • Choose SW Pillar Section for content arranged side by side.
  • Choose SW Text and Media for content arranged in a vertical stack.
  • Choose SW Cards when you want to create and arrange cards yourself.
  • Choose SW Form for a form that stands on its own.
  • Choose SW Hero for the opening section of a page. SW Simple Hero is deprecated.

If more than one module could work, compare the specific content you need, such as images, videos, galleries, headings, buttons, or a HubSpot form.

When should I enable Output FAQPage Schema in SW FAQs Advanced?

Enable Output FAQPage Schema when the page contains visible questions and answers that you want search engines to recognize as FAQ content. The questions and answers in the schema must match what visitors can read on the page. SW FAQs Advanced includes only the FAQs shown on the current page, so each page of a paginated FAQ hub has its own matching schema. This markup describes the content for search engines, but it does not guarantee that Google will show an FAQ-style search result.

What should I use instead of the old SW FAQs Advanced module?

Existing pages that use the older SW FAQs Advanced module can keep those instances in place. For a new FAQ hub, use SW FAQs Advanced HubDB so your team can manage the questions and answers from a HubDB table. If you want to move an existing FAQ collection, contact Smithworks before changing the page so the migration can be reviewed.

What is SW Privacy Notice?

SW Privacy Notice shows a compliance-style message (default copy includes a link to your privacy policy). Visitors close it with Got It; the button does not navigate away. You can control animation speed, delay before show, and how long the bar stays hidden after dismiss (session or days).

Add it in the global footer content editor—typically below SW Footer Simple and any popup modules. For promotional popups, use SW CTA Popup or SW Popup Panel instead.

What is the difference between SW Privacy Notice and SW Popup Panel?

SW Privacy Notice displays a dismissible notice bar at the bottom of the page. It does not collect or record a visitor's consent, so it is not a consent-management tool. SW Popup Panel is designed for promotional messages and gives you more choices for layouts, positions, targeting, and triggers. Use Privacy Notice for a simple notice and Popup Panel when you need a marketing popup with more control.

How do I add SW Privacy Notice site-wide?

Same global footer path as popups: open any live page, click the footer, choose Edit global content, then select SW Global Site Footer (check Hidden modules if needed).

Add SW Privacy Notice in the footer drag-and-drop region—place it below SW Footer Simple and below SW Popup Panel or SW CTA Popup if those are present. Configure Notice Text and Close Button, then Publish global content.
