# SW CTA Popup Events — AI Agent Reference **Module name:** SW CTA Popup Events **Use this document when:** The user asks about the SW CTA Popup Events HubSpot module—what it does, how it picks an event, how it differs from SW CTA Popup or SW Events Basic, or how to style the panel and photo. --- ## Instructions for the AI Agent - You do **not** have HubSpot access unless explicitly given. Answer only from this document (and other docs supplied by the user). - When the user wants to change something, direct them to the exact **tab → group → field** names listed in the Configuration Reference. - **Site-wide popups:** Use the **global content editor** and footer drag-and-drop area (same steps as SW CTA Popup / SW Popup Panel). Do **not** lead with Design Manager for typical users. - Support / bug issues: point to **https://smithworks.marketing/contact**. - Marketer FAQs: **https://smithworks.marketing/faqs**. --- ## 1. Purpose and When to Use **SW CTA Popup Events** is a **slide-in popup** that shows **one** upcoming event from a **Google Sheet** (same columns as SW Events Basic). It uses **SW CTA Popup** chrome (position, triggers, panel width) plus Events Basic pick-one (featured upcoming, else next by date). Use it when: - You want a **corner popup** for the next workshop / RSVP, not a full events page - The list lives in a **Google Sheet** (not HubDB, not an inline repeater) - One photo, title, date, location, teaser, RSVP button, and optional **View All Events** link is enough **Placement:** Add to a **single page**, or add it in the **global footer content editor** next to SW Footer Simple for every page. **Not for:** A full events listing (use **SW Events Basic**). A generic one-off CTA with authored headline/body (use **SW CTA Popup**). Multiple popup variants per page (use **SW Popup Panel**). --- ## 2. Choosing Between Related Modules | Use Case | Choose | |----------|--------| | Simple authored popup (headline, body, optional thumbnail, one button) | **SW CTA Popup** | | Corner popup that auto-picks the next event from a Google Sheet | **SW CTA Popup Events** | | Full events / workshops page with a card list + RSVP form | **SW Events Basic** | | Multiple popup variants, page-specific rules, announcement banners | **SW Popup Panel** | --- ## 3. How it picks the event 1. The browser downloads the Sheet (Anyone with the link → Viewer). That is **not** access control. 2. Past events hide from ISO `event_date` (America/Denver; still shows **on** the day). Display `datetime` does not control hiding. 3. If a row is marked **featured** and is still upcoming, that row wins. 4. Else the **next upcoming** by date wins. 5. If none are upcoming: **When no events** = Hide completely (default) or Show default CTA. The editor shows a compact note when the live page would hide the panel. Visitors never see that note. --- ## 4. Configuration Reference The module has **Content** and **Style** tabs. ### 4.1 Content Tab **Enabled** — Toggle. Uncheck to disable without removing settings. **Google Sheet Settings** - **Google Sheet URL** — Public Sheet (gviz/CSV). Keep Events Basic headers: `title,event_date,datetime,location,image,teaser,rsvp_url,rsvp_label` (plus featured if used). - **Button URL** — Fallback RSVP when the row has no RSVP URL. **When no events** — Hide completely (default) | Show default CTA. **Default CTA** — Headline, body, button, and image used only when the Sheet has no upcoming event **and** When no events = Show default CTA. **View All Events** — Optional simple **text link** under the RSVP button (not a second button). Editable label and URL. **Positioning** — Position (Bottom Right or Bottom Left), Bottom Offset (px), Panel Width (px). **Panel Width is the text column.** The photo matches the text column height; overflow crops left/right. **Timing & Triggers** — Time Delay, Scroll %, Exit Intent (same idea as SW CTA Popup). Triggers arm **after** the event paints. ### 4.2 Style Tab (slim) This module does **not** have Module Outer, Aurora, SVG, Animated, Inner Video, Inner Effect, or Inner Rim. **Module Settings** — Inner spacing; Button Style (locked 15); optional Override Link Colors for the View All link. **Module Background Settings** - **Module Inner** fill: None, Theme Color, Custom Color, Gradient, or one Image + Background Size. - **Override Module Inner Border** (default on) = **stroke only** (style, width, color) on the **panel**. - **Override Module Inner Border Radius** (default **off**) = panel corner radius. Off = theme **Global Border Radius**. Independent of the stroke override. **Content Colors** — Panel Text, Panel Link. **Image Settings** - **Override Image Border Radius** (default **off**) = photo corners only. Off = theme Global Border Radius. The photo does **not** use the panel’s inner stroke or panel radius. - **When the panel is narrow** — default **Stack above content** (at 767). Other choice: **Keep left, shrink image** (L/R crop). **Custom ID / Custom classes** — Standard. --- ## 5. Common Tasks - **Show the next event site-wide:** Global footer content editor → add **SW CTA Popup Events** next to SW Footer Simple → paste the Sheet URL → Publish. - **Force a featured workshop:** Mark that row featured in the Sheet while it is still upcoming. - **Hide when the calendar is empty:** When no events = Hide completely (default). - **Hide on the events page (and event landing pages):** Add `cta-popup-hide` in **Page contents → Hidden modules → Body Class**. The popup does not load the Sheet and does not open. The same class also hides **SW Popup Panel** on that page. - **Close button:** The × fades the panel out and releases the page. Links and images that were under the popup can be used again. No setting. - **Round the photo without changing the panel:** Style → Image Settings → Override Image Border Radius. - **Round the panel without changing the photo:** Style → Override Module Inner Border Radius (stroke stays on Override Module Inner Border). --- ## 6. Document Version **Module:** SW CTA Popup Events. **Master version number:** 2026.09.29.16.42. **Doc last updated:** 2026-09-29. Closing the popup releases clicks on the page underneath. Page Body Class `cta-popup-hide` hides the popup (same token as SW Popup Panel). First release was 2026-09-16 (Sheet pick-one, slim Style, independent inner radius and image radius).
